Bravo Academy of Music offers private violin lessons as young as 4 years old, as long as the child is ready to sit, listen, and participate. If you child has already had a year of preschool or kindergarten they might be ready for private violin lesson at age 4 - 6. At age 7 and up is best to start kids with violin lessons. Violin lessons are also very popular with teens who have already started playing violin in middle and high school orchestras and bands. Many adults take up playing the violin as well. It's never too late to start playing. Violin students will work with our university trained music teachers and can expect to learn the basic fundamentals of music such as melody, harmony, and rhythm along with techniques such as bowing, fingering, pizzicato, and more. Advanced students can learn more advanced techniques and styles of music. Beginners can expect to practice 5-10 minutes 2-3 time per week and more advanced students 30-60 minutes 4-5 times a week. Students will need their own violins while taking lessons. Many students choose to rent violins so they may have a better quality violin to play on. Better quality instruments are easier to play and stay in tune. New decent quality student violins can range in price from $300 and up while used violins can be found for less. Violins range in size from 1/16th size up to 4/4 full size violin. It is very important that your child has the right size violin while learning to play the violin.
